AFFILIATION : Agrimetrics - UK THEME : Agrimetrics: Providing infrastructure to unlock the value in data BIOGRAPHY
Prof Richard Tiffin is Chief Scientific Officer for Agrimetrics Ltd, and Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Reading. Agrimetrics was created in 2016 with Government, academic and industry backing to provide data and tools to the agrifood sector to address the world’s most pressing global food challenges. Agrimetrics’ data platform and the linked-data as a service which this provides unlock the value and insights held in data being generated across the sector. The approach is to put the data user at the heart of the process so that analysis and visualisation is driven by use cases. Richard read Agriculture at the University of Newcastle and completed a PhD in Agricultural Economics at the University of London. He lectured in Agricultural Economics at Newcastle and Durham before joining the University of Reading in 2006.
